Dear Ticketmaster:
Thank you for charging almost 30% extra on tickets to the Miike Snow concert at the Commodore this coming April. Not only are you gouging us with inflated prices for artists that we want to enjoy, you’re inexplicably creating a market of greed that transfers over to scalpers on Craigslist or Stubhub.
For example, the XX is playing at the Commodore not too long after. However, the tickets are no longer available. They were $20 tickets + service fees, which probably covers the CEO’s coke habit. But now, the tickets are at the least $60 each. It’s just ridiculous.
I’m going to continue to listen to music. I will watch Youtube videos; I will listen to iTunes radio. Yet, if the market which you control continues to disrupt the experience of enjoying these music artists, then Ticketmaster, I have two words for you:
Suck it.
